Happy 89th birthday Eric

Eric is a regular and ever present contributor on the forum - one of the few here who use both Bank Genie Pro AND Ideas Genie Pro.

Eric is a retired architect and a brilliant photographer (my technical adviser  ) and has a huge collection of photos which he shares with us here and on the web. His collection includes a good mix of architecture around the country which has been worthy of his admiration. Then of course, he takes photos of the gardens when visiting those grand houses.

Both Eric and his wife Anthea are keen gardeners. Anthea is the head propagator, I believe.
They have shared many of their garden photos on the forum.
Their beloved grandson Benji visits regularly and helps in the garden.

Happy birthday Eric and I hope you and Anthea have a lovely day.

Thank you George for that wonderful birthday greeting. When you asked my permission I thought it would be just a comment on "Anthea and Eric's garden ...." page, I had no idea it would an announcement. I am very flattered, and thank you again. Thank you Kathy and Laurie for your greetings too.

And a happy birthday to you too, Ian. We were both "All Hallowe'en" babies . And while I am about it a rather belated welcome to the Forum

We are spending a quiet day together and going out for a birthday lunch in a few minutes time. If I am spared, we will try to have a bigger splash with family and friends for the big nine oh next year.

I arranged both a 60th wedding and a 100th birthday cards for my mother.

I was very surprised to find a whole department dealing with the 100th birthday; apparently it is because so many more people make the magic number these days,

I was also surprised that I did not need to have made the effort - it seems to happen automaticallyl we even had a phone call not long before the date to check "are things still OK?".

I was also surprised that she received a card from DWP signed by the minister,

BTW we all found the card from the Queen hit exaclty the right note and tone.

PS: Anyone approaching a magic number?

I think George was just being kind to call me a brilliant photographer, Roba. A very keen amateur perhaps. I followed that link and yes, Edward de Bruyn IS a brilliant photographer. I particularly liked his views of the camels in the Morroccan desert - such clarity.
