Introducing
the Master Database
The
Master Database contains thousands of plants and photos and is supplied on CD.
As
the content grows, there are other distribution possibilities – e.g. on DVD, or
on Flash Drives.
The idea is that you can browse the plants and photos on the Master Database,
on CD, and selectively copy plants to your own database on hard disc.
Its an open project, and users of all editions of our Garden Software are asked
to participate in making this a success.
Since the plants in the database are grown or sold by our customers, it should
be possible to get one or more photographs for each plant.
The photos are contributed by ideasforgardens.com and our customers and
friends.
All photos are protected by copyright, and are the property of the individual
photographers.
Images are higher resolution than those used on the internet, and suitable for
viewing full screen using our software.
The
Master Database is created using Ideas Genie Pro, but each edition of our
software has a “Database Explorer” program with special features for exploring,
running slide shows and copying plants from the Master Database.
The
Master Database is a massive project, and is ever on-going.
The
Master Database is a SWAP library database. Any customer can create a SWAP
library CD to add to the collection.

Updates can be obtained at any time. We don’t cut batches which go out of date.

Requirements
First you must:
Install Flower Genie
Register Flower Genie
using a licence.
Using the Master Database
Flower Genie has been
programmed to allow you to read any SWAP library CD created with Ideas Genie
Pro, and that includes the Master Database.
Put
the Master Database CD in the drive.
Start
Flower Genie
To Explore the plants on the
Master Database
Start the program My Plants and Gardens - FG037
Click
on the Data Source pop-up
In the list, Select "IGMaster"

Once
selected, this closes your database on hard disc, and opens the Master Database
on CD.
Explore
the database
To Explore the Garden Photos on the Master Database
Start
the program Garden
Slideshows - FG014
Check your Data Source setting – select IGMASTER if necessary.
Use the pop-ups to select a Garden e.g. The Ideas Genie Demo
Click the Start the show button
Slide
show will run.
You
can click Pause button at any time. This gives you options to go Previous (step
back to previously displayed photos), View the Photo details (more info about
the Photo), Go (resume the slide show) or Stop.
To add a plant from the Master database to YOUR database on hard disc
Start the program My Plants and Gardens - FG037
Select a plant (click once on the plant name)
Click
the Copy this Plant

Simply
click the Add

Closing the Master Database
Start the program My Plants and Gardens - FG037
Click on the Data Source pop-up
In
the list, Select Main Data Files
Once
selected, this closes your Master database on CD, and opens YOUR Database on
hard disc.
Plants added to YOUR database from the Master Database can now be selected and
edited as normal.
