A good set of photos Nicola
I had that one in my garden once but it didn't survive sadly. It was a nice plant.

Another seed weed here.
See if you can find a picture of Sisyrinchium palmatum. This is a much nicer plant, just seems to be a bit too tender for us.

thanks Eric coudn't find Sisyrinchium palmatum but found a Sisyrinchium palmifolium... is that the one?

Sorry, yes that is the one. I saw it labelled S. palmifrons in one garden, so it seems to be misnamed in lots of places.

both chiltern seeds and plant world seeds ( the 2 main seed suppliers I deal with) have it listed so I'll have a try...
any suggestion on when and how seed it?

Sorry, no. Never managed to get it to survive long enough to get seed. Friend who does grow it says it self seeds all over, so I guess the time to sow would be when S. striatum seeds are ripe.
