I tried the species (Salvia farinacea ) a number of years ago Nicola.
It had very attractive silvery leaves.
Unfortunately it did not survive in my garden.
I agree - its a lovely plant and you have published a nice set of photos 8).

Did you grow that one from seed?

no george it's one of the last "purchase" at the auditorium festival .. I'm growing s. horminum,s. microphylla, s. napifolia, s and s. sclarea from seed.
I understand it didn't survive as it's rather sensible to frost and wet
