Its that wonderful time of year again!
I hope you have passed the frantic stage (Christmas shopping!) and are ready to relax and enjoy precious time with your friends and family :D

Last week was bitterly cold here in Ireland (around 2 to 4 degrees C) but mercifully the forecast predicts we will have 11 to 12 degrees C) over Christmas.

From our family to yours, we wish you a very Happy Christmas, good health and good luck in the New Year and beyond.

Indeed John and that's good news for me :)
Bank Genie has been running smoothly for some time now.
In the New Year, I plan to publish some tips and tricks which some users may not be aware of.

file SECRTS is missing
That message means your system has not been kept up to date.
Two things for you to do to get up to date with latest changes.

1.
Under the Help tab, run the program Check for updates.
Install any updates that program initialises for you.

2.
Under the File tab, run the program Special-BS912.
It should indicate Version 28 in the title bar.
Running that program will create the missing file SECRTS for you.
That file is used by the investments program in Bank Genie Pro 6 (which you have) to record Securities.

Does that help?

There has not been much activity on the Bank Genie forum in 2024, but I am hopin someone can help.

I have just got around to backing up my data and I have received an error message saying that file SECRTS is missing (see attached).

My last back up was done in 2020!

Any help greatly appreciated

Photobucket has copies. The original images are on CDs somewhere in our Loft.

That is just plain cruel Eric.
I have CD's you sent me. Do they have the originals?

The originals are all on Photobucket which is no good as it is a pay for use site now. They will not even let one download your own images without paying.

That makes life hard. Had a look for the original files, but failed to find them . I have dozens of CD's with stuff on them, but the contents are not listed on the packages, too much like hard work when I saved them.
I also have a horrible feeling that I did not save the files I put on site, only the original images.

Hi George,

The tier two admin team got back to us regarding your web issue and has returned from our investigation.

Please note that any code you input for the website is case-sensitive, and file paths must be correctly specified in the code for them to open.

I found your file 'campanula fragilis-3680-650.jpg' in the folder /palustris/Pershore/, and it opens correctly, as shown in the attached screenshot.

Unfortunately, we do not provide support for coding issues. However, we would like to note that it is not recommended to use spaces in file names when uploading them to a server or opening them in a browser.

Spaces in URLs get encoded as %20, which makes links harder to read and can cause issues if not handled properly.

Instead, use:
1. Underscores: campanula_fragilis-3680-650.jpg
2. Hyphens (preferred for SEO): campanula-fragilis-3680-650.jpg

If you need help with anything else, please feel free to reach out and ask

NOT what I wanted to hear!
