Title: Camelia bloom
Post by: whis4ey on April 10, 2007, 06:22:54 PM
My camelia is about 4 years old with me
Last year was the first flowers which were fairly small and disappointing
This year there are loads of buds for the first time, and the flowers are much larger
This is one of the first two blooms ...  quite a wee stunner :)

I can tell it likes where it is Billy - leaves look really healthy.
Do you have a label for that beauty?

I spent the afternoon in Castlewellan Park yesterday - fot benefit of our members, thats a little town nestling at the foot of the Mourne Mountains in Co Down, Ireland.

Ive never been there before, and in my opinion its much nicer that Tullymore, the other park close to Newcastle and Castlewellan.

A walk in the walled gardens are a must. Ive never seen such magnificent Magnolias - stellatas 20 ft tall and more, and lots of other gorgeous varieties which were 30 or 40 ft tall. Problem is, a helicopter would have been required to see their blooms properly.
I took over 100 photos, so will post a few when I get them sorted.
