We dont have many shrubs in our garden, and the ones we do, have have to be grown like a standard. Why you may say? so the ground underneath can be used to grow other plants, how else do you think we can get so many plants into our small garden. ;D
The Pieris forrestii is flowering now and starting to grow the red new leaves which eventually turn green. The new shoots are prone to the frost catching them.
Here is a close up of the individual flowers that make up the floweing spray.
