Mahonia aquifolium at a guess. Certainly a Mahonia, but without seeing the berries it could be any one of three or four.

The spiky leaves certainly look like Mahonia, so I will use that name to add it to the Ideas Genie (http://www.ideasgenie.co.uk) Master Database.
I've been updating Ideas Genie (http://www.ideasgenie.co.uk) this past while. That involves a lot of testing before publishing the updates.
The enjoyable part is linking plants to the many photos I have taken on my visits to public gardens in the UK.
