Gene:
Hi All.  We have been on the sicky-poo list for awhile and not contributing. George asked for a rundown on the business and what we sell so here goes.  I will keep it pretty short.  We are now at two new farmers markets; San Marcos, TX on Tuesdays from 3 to 6 PM and at Wimberley, TX on Wednesdays from 3 to 6 PM.  Since late March we have averaged 2 to 3 hundred dollars a week so we are NOT going to get rich anytime soon.
We still specialize in Lagerstromia and have added acer palmatum autropurpurium.  The Japanese red maples were purchased in about 2 years ago as seedlings and are now quite lovely and selling well.  We do a lot of native TX plants and an arborvitae called 'Brandon' which is about 2' by 12' at maturity.  We have "Golden Rain Trees" and "Golden Chain Trees".
At this time, we are the only "small" nursery licensed to propagate a new crapemyrtle called 'Orchid Cascade', a cultivar developed by Robert Hambuchen who also developed 'Rosey Carpet'. The other nursery is a huge outfit in Oklahoma. There is a long story to that but I will not bore you with the details. Only to say that I am indeed blessed to be able to propagate 'Orchid Cascade',  a stunning weeping cultivar with vivid orchid pink blossoms.
We have ordered in 3 new cultivars of acer to test there response to our Texas summers. We are testing 'Crimson Queen', 'Garnet', and 'Tamukiama', and right now, early spring, the tamukiama seems to be doing the best of all.
Sorry to run on so but I have a lot of catching up to do.  Our best to all, Gene & Ivy (pardon the spelling, Latin and I are strangers)
