The Garden and Gadget man is back.
« on: January 27, 2013, 09:24:04 PM »
I don't know how long it is since I last posted,I would guess about 18 months?
It will take me a while to get used to using the forum and posting too.

As usual I am a busy chap, gardening and making things (Gadgets), and my paid work are the main culprits.
However being so busy is soon to change, I retire at the end of May this year.

I know I shouldn't, but I am counting the months, and soon the weeks.
Then I will not have to rush around in the garden and have more time for photography, ahh great. 8)

The latest gadget I am making is a motorised dolly  :o

Actually a track on which a slider runs along, driven by a geared electric motor.
Used for Timelapse, the slider has the camera on it, and the slider moves a very small amount every 5 or so seconds, the camera takes a picture when the slider is stopped.
I am just now making the control unit which uses a Microcontroller and is programmed to do all the smart bits controlling everything.
Unfortunately I have to programme the microcontroller, but I have never done this before.
However I have got it working after a bit of scratching of head. I still have plenty of hair left. ;)

And I found time yesterday to top dress all of Lyn's garden, we do it every year about this time.

...and what comes immediately to mind is - Cead Mille Failte - (back!!)  ;D

We've missed you here on the forum Malcolm. There are quite a lot of new members since you last visited so I will take this opportunity to introduce them to you and the famous garden of our resident Mr Gadget (and Mrs Gadget)! :D

(That should keep them occupied for a while!)

What an invention! I look forward to seeing photos of your latest gadget Malcolm!

Don't rely too much on having time on your hands after retirement. Any retired folk I know seem to be busier than ever!
We'll count down the days with you ;D

Thank you both for your welcome back (and hundred thousand welcomes) had to look that one up George. :D

I am not sure that Mrs Gadget really approves of me being Mr Gadget.
I am quite often in my (small) shed cutting and drilling bits of metal. I do though assemble circuit boards in my 'Office'

I knew someone would say I would be busier than ever when I retire  ::) Luckily we dont have grandchildren etc, so that should improve things. 8)
