This news announced on the BBC website
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7395915.stm
The National Trust is auditing all the plants in over 80 of its most important gardens, in the biggest project of its kind.
The BBC's Jon Kay spoke to Kate Tewke of the National Trust about the "mammoth task" that lies ahead.
The audit has started at Killerton House, Exeter, Devon, England

That's fascinating news George. I wasn't aware of this until you mentioned it.
The link to the interview is very interesting too. Nice to see they're using the latest technology in their 'task' with GPS to mark the location of all their plants, and photographs to match.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. 8)
