Ayone heard of costmary?
« on: February 18, 2008, 10:57:57 PM »
I received this in an email from Jessie from Singapore (3fren on the forum)

Quote
I read about this plant called "costmary " or "Tanacetum balsamita" or chrysanthemum balsamita
which is grew as herbs and is a common plants/weeds in most gardens.  According to the book,
most vegetable gardeners will grow costmary around the patches to attract the aphids from the main vegetables - interesting ya ?

Have you seen such plants ?
We may have here but won't know which one as the picture doesn't look familiar.

Heard of it, but never grown it. It is a bit like Tansy which we do grow. Seeds do seem to be available if anyone wants to buy them.

Thanks Eric.

Ive now done a quick google, and found that its a herb, and its botanical name is Tanacetum balsamita
It does seem to have useful properties, as descibed here:
