my pt 2100 arrived today with 18mm laminated tape been haveing a little play and this is one of the labels printed out, i scanned it on my scanner to upload it to photobucket to get it here

what i plan to do is to pin some outside facing west which is where the worst of the weather comes from and will keep you all updated on how they last, the label size is 18mm x 60mm why 60mm because i found some plastic pointy labels on ebay that i can stick that size lable too, all of the other pointy labels i looked at were under 18mm

this label with the pic 18mm x 90mm pic on label comes out in black though as the pt 2100 only prints black

Question to you both
Can you save what you type for re-use?

Yes i beileve it saves upto 9 templates as long as its always plugged in, it does not need to be on, also you can connect to excel to find labels, so what i have done is to copy and paste every single igpro label into excell i can then connect to that choose which plant i want then copy and paste into editor and print

the longest label it can do is 300mm

here they are outside facing westardly i have stuck them onto a piece of plastic milk carton, as i have no plant labels, label 1 on left is also stapled onto plastic, label 2 on right is only stuck on, the tape is stickable aswell as laminated, the test begins 23 Jan 09

Have bought via ebay these labels to stick the labels to they are yet to arrive

size 60mm x 20mm total length 110mm

size 60mm x 40mm total length 150mm these ones will be ideal for sticking the split labels on

I'm workin with Toby on a new set of labels from another supplier (US)
Would you like me to make up a label for you to try on your printer?

Your labels comes in a strip, 18mm wide. Is that correct?

to define between a normal label and a split label

normal 18mm x 60mm plus

Split is basically 2 18mm labels where the text is spread over 36mm to give a label of 36mm x 60mm plus

It will actually go upto 18mm x 4 giving a label of 72mm by whatever length upto 300mm max

How does that 36x60 label (split ) feed into/out of the printer?

Do you feed in 18mm tape? 36 mm tape?

What Font name do you want?
What font size does your printer take?
Does it also take Bold?

Do you feed in 18mm tape? 36 mm tape?

the tape comes in a cartridge 8 meters and its cuts at the desired length in my case 60mm here is a better pic of a split label its 2 x 18mm x 60mm its cuts the tape at 60mm intervals in the case of this label top half plant name and colour, bottom half flowering time height

the 2100 also automatically alters text size to get all text in the specified label size so on some labels iwill end up with smaller text and larger on others depending on the amount of plant info on label

font name i prefer arial as i find it nice and clear to read but it uses practically every font name that is in microsoft word
font size is adjusted by printer to fit label size 18mm can also be adjusted by hand, when i did the first label i copied and pasted from label programe in ig pro and did not alter font size
bold yes that is selectable on printer

hopefully this pic will give you an idea

What I meant was does it allow mix and match
e.g. Top line Bold
next lines Normal

unfortunately no not from what i can see, text has to be all same normal or bold, have tried with altering a plant name to bold in the database for it but it still prints out as normal so normal text

Two downloads for you to try the new labels, Phil

http://www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/labelcds-dl.exe
Click Run to install

Heres the program update for GA048
http://www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/GA048-dl.exe
GA048 Version 18
Click Run to install

NOTE: The label Ive done may be the wrong orientation, in this first attempt

Start IG Pro
Start Labels> GA048
In the Label pop-up select Brother PT2011
Click the New Labels button

In GA042S02
Click Gardener and Garden Areas pop-ups to get list of plants
Click to select a plant in the list
Now click on the "label" on the left
That "transfers" the plant onto the label
At Front: Data only, Click Edit button
Screen GA048S03 appears

In GA048S03
Note The Plant Name and Label Data fields
Fot the first test, to make it as simple as possible for the printer, Ive ignored the Plant Name field in output (the label).
Thus copy the plant name and paste it into the Label Data field below
NOTE: Normally you dont have to do that!
Key up 3 or 4 lines of text
Click the Save button
Screen GA048S02 re-appears
Click Print

You will need GA048 Ver 18 to allow you to use the new label Phil.
Ive downloaded it myself and tested. Its not corrupted.

I  really dont know what is causing that corruption problem you are getting.
I'm gettin a bit concerned about that.

Try saving the downloaded filke onto the deskop (or any folder)
Then locate the file and double click on it.
The Installation wizard will start up, and continue through the installation.

Thanks Laurie. Good to know it is intact.

Phil:
Use My computer/ Windows explorer to have a look at the file size.
It should be around 1.4mb

How about you email me the file you downloaded?
I could open it here and we could rule out he download integrity if its OK

Phil and I are on our second attempt with the labels for this device.
We managed to get labels to print, in the corect orientation, with 4 lines of text, but half of the first character in each line was cropped off.

(Spreading a little more happiness  ;)

Right then to explaine the happenings last night
after i downloaded the update to GA048 i managed to print out a label on the PT2100

label 1

As you can see its the wrong orientation so i emailed george and he phoned me up we worked on it for 35 minutes trying various combinations

label 2

on this one we have the orientation correct but the text has been cropped and the label is 100mm measeured via a ruler at this stage

label 3

we now have the correct size 60mm but text is still being cropped at beginning, so george went away and made an update on the label programme now V19 which i downloaded this morning and

label 4

hey presto correct size, correct orientation for label and complete text

This was all made possible by george being patient on the phone for 35 minutes at one stage the conversation was
G
can you remember what you did then

me
eerrr no i pressed that many buttons i cant remember  ::)

but we got through, my next post shall go into detail with piccies aswell as to how to achieve printing a label on a Brother PT21OO via IGPRO, At the moment i am composing it all in word then i shall paste onto here when done
George a very big thankyou  ;)
