WED 14th MAY
Laurie has downloaded and tested, and has reported that the resizer program is working but you need to play with the settings to get it to suit your requirements.
Please go ahead and give it a try
More late, at which point I will remove this RED ALERT

Ive now developed a new program for resizing photos.

Allows you to select a folder, then shows the list of image files in the folder with their current files sizes
Allows you to then to select a file size to resize to.
Select one, many or all files (photos) in the folder.
Then, allows you to select a destination folder.
Click a button , and resized images are created in the destination folder.

GA051 - Resize program
http://www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/GA051-dl.exe

When both installed, GA051 is located under the Tools tab on the Ideas Genie Pro Menu

Applications:
a) Resize photos to correct size for uploading to the Ideas Genie Community forum
b) For resizing very large files (e.g. 10mb) to a more convenient size for use in the Genie programs.
Large file sizes are slower to load in the Genie (anf any other) programs, especially if on CD.
c) For distributing photos on SWAP Library CD's of your garden, and in my case, the Master Database.

NOTE: Help not yet documented - We have surprise visitors here this weekend so have to be sociable- my daughter and her friend Erin took us completely by surprise - arriving home yesterday afternoon from Manchester England, in time for my wife's birthday party! BBQ photos later

NightHawk:
WOW!  This is really exciting stuff.  I hadn't realised you were that close to getting that module completed.

We look forward to trying that out when you release it.  8)

Ive amended the original posting, with links to the downloads.
Give it a go Laurie, and play with the re-size settings

Tip: Ive been setting both Portrait and Landscape to the same value.
Ive been using it for resizing large photos for use in the Master Database
1600 (pixels) gives a good file size

ideasguy:
Laurie has now sent me a detailed report of his tests, so its now time to explain a few things.

Heres some useful info, which will become part of the HELP.

* The program will resize any combination of Landscape and Portrait photos in a folder containing originals.

* The program maintains aspect ratio - and thus does not distort the resized image.
Thus you are not given the option to pick a new Width AND Height for resize.

* When resizing a LANDSCAPE photo:
The Max Width dimension under Landscape Photos is used by the program
The Max Height dimension under Portrait Photos is IGNORED by the program

* When resizing a PORTRAIT photo:
The Max Height dimension under Portrait Photos is used by the program
The Max Width dimension under Landscape Photos is IGNORED by the program
Alternative Help instructions are welcome. Its always better to have two descriptions on how things work.

George: Have you been able to document help for GA051? There is nothing in HELP on what I downloaded from May 4, 2008 posting on Forum.
