What are the steps to follow to make sure I move from my old computer to a new computer successfully.  I have my original disk, but I've also kept up with the updates.  Do I need to install from the disks, download all the updates and then try to move the db from one machine to another?

Is there a new updated installation disk?

Any pitfalls I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance for any instructions/tips.  I love this software and have put alot of work into my database.  Don't want to lose it now just because my other laptop is on it's last legs.

Much appreciated, Julie

(I travel every week for work, my original lap top did exceedingly well lasting through being dropped, smooshed, crunched etc over and over on planes and airports.  But while the innards are hale and hardy, the exterior case is looking like a cracked egg hence the replacement)

Hi Julie! Its very nice to see you back with us again here on the forum 8)
I haven't heard from Michigan in ages. I hope you had a better summer than we had in the UK.

The quickest solution for you is to download Ideas Genie Pro, so you will have all the updates etc.
However, I'm making a change in the screen GA100S36 to allow printing to a Brother printer.
That screen is used by a number of programs in IG Pro.
Please hold on until later this evening. I hope to have the updates completed by then, and you can then download the very latest version of IG Pro.

There are no pitfalls that I am aware of. All you will need is a backup of your data onto a portable drive (e.g. Flash drive).

The first of the updates (GA004) are now released for testing by our members, Julie.
Here's the link discussing change.

If all goes well, I'll apply the same changes to 7 other programs, and set the download up for you tomorrow. My apologies for the delay.

Thank you for your patience Julie!
Keep an eye on that topic. Its looking good, as you can see, so I can now apply that same update to those other programs (which use GA100S36, with the new Print Label button)

Just checking back in on this thread.  I've done the reinstall ( a few months later then I desired, but life on the road interfered) and need a license reset.

I've sent a couple of emails requesting such  but haven't seen a response (I've been keeping an eye in my junk mail).  Hopefully it is just a bad email addy and everyone is hail and hardy.

Please let me know what email address to use for the request.  Thank you!

Hi Julie

I've checked my records (I keep all email correspondence) and cannot find even one email from you, Julie, so I'm rather worried to say the least :o

Ive sent you an email a few minutes ago.
Please reply to establish communications, and I'll get you up and running today.

Hi Julie

Its now 15:40, two hours or so since you replied here on the forum.
I haven't received your email, and its not in my junk mail.

Meantime, I have reset your licence a few minutes ago, so you can go ahead and re-register.
Please post a message here when you get up and running again.

Thank you, the registration has completed.

I too am concerned you haven't received the emails.  They show as sent and I received no errors.

Let me know if you would like to do further testing.

Mystery solved. We have communication.

I consolidated my email accounts and allowed one which I used infrequently to expire.
Julie had used that email address.

My apologies, Julie - I will renew that account to prevent this happening again.
