Some advice on Divisions please.
« on: February 09, 2011, 06:24:21 PM »

The Genus Lilium are divided into nine divisions. For example 1 Asiatic Hybrids. 11 Martagon Hybrids........V11 Oriental Hybrid etc.
Some of the divisions need special treatment like a lower soil ph value.

Is there anywhere I should be entering those Divisions.?

Ah, a man working with divisions, great!! Makes the effort of doing that worthwhile :D

First, under files, use the Program Genera with Divisions/Categories GA019 to enter the Genus Lilium and the divisions.
Once you've done that, use GA004
Click on the Plants in selected Genus tab, and search for your genus
A special button appears on the initial screen for any genus which has divisions, called ww Divisions (eh, what a surprise :)).
Click ye that button and have fun!

Thanks George for the above. You have catered for everything required. ;D It must have taken a lot of time to produce a workflow before writing the progammes.

I did have a problem with editing/adding the divisions, but managed to find out where to do it in GA019. Double click on the Genus you have divisions for which takes you ultimatley to GA019S02 and 04.

That is terrific Malcolm, and thank you for your appreciative comments!!!
I'm always pleased when someone uses some of the more advanced features - makes it all worth while.
Confession - I didn't sit down and make out a workflow. After release of Version 1, the Ideas Genie programs and its features evolved as a result of ideas that came up over the years as I travelled to and from work by bus - in those days a one hour and more journey - in heavily congested traffic.  The software had so much potential that the ideas flowed with ease, and I loved making them happen.
Divisions was in IG right from the beginning. That was indeed one of the initial outline design features and in Version 1.

Ive visited the lilyregister website, and its great to be pointed to such a terrific resource!
Take a bow :)

Confession accepted George.

And now I have a printout of the Lilies arranged in division AND subdivision, so all the lilies in VII can get a dose of suphate of ammonia to lower the ph around them a bit.

Now if in IGpro 2, the garden area for each lily was in the printout as well :P, we would know where to go look for them. ;D ;D
Happy days

We are at Version 5 with Ideas Genie Malcolm.
I'll let you know when I start work on Version 6 and we can review the reports.
