Used for printing a block of text

(1/1)

ideasguy:
In my opinion, Notepad is a very under-rated program.
It has a number of very useful features.

e.g. Toby (Bossgard) sent me an email today to ask:

--- Quote ---Is there a way I can print a portion of a String on a Topic on the Forum, without printing the whole thing.
In this particular case, I what to print only your new instructions for printing labels but not the whole topic
--- End quote ---

Heres my reply:

Do you have a little program called Notepad?
It?s a VERY handy little tool.

If you don?t have an icon for Notepad on your desktop, put it there, as follows (as in Windows XP):

Click Start
Just above the ?All Programs?, do you see Notepad?
If yes,RIGHT click on Notepad
Click Send to
Click To desktop (create shortcut)

You now have an icon on your desckop.
Now start Notepad

Go to the forum
Select the block of text from a chose topic
Ctrl-A (to copy it)
Click into Notepad
Ctrl-V (to paste the copied text into Notepad)
Now you can click File>Print

Another way is to simply 'black out' (select) the text you want to print, right click on it and then select print.  In the window that opens click on 'selection'.  You will print only the portiion selected

ideasguy:
Ooooh - you are clever!
I didnt know about that method! Its very quick and easy.

Have you read this Toby? (Bossgard)

bossgard:
Yes, I have read it. I think that is the way that I finally accomplished it. Anyway, it has been done, it's just when I try to follow Ideasguy's instructions that I get fouled up! Just kidding, that guy is great, and please remember I'm very, very new to the computer world and IDGPro, and the garden world. I think three strikes against me. Am I out?

ideasguy:
Well, you gave me a laugh at bedtime, Toby   ;D

Billy's (Whis4ey) method is very good!

Incidentally - since I did this original posting, Ive made a change to the Surf board in IG Pro.
You can now print from it.
If you start IG pro, find a screen with a Surf board button and copy and paste bits of data into it, you now have a shiny new Print button  8)
Means you can clip together a number of copied bits of text, and print the lot.
