Our Gardens > Opening your garden to a tour

Our open day last Sunday

(1/1)

Lyn and Malcolm:

Sunday dawned rather cloudy and dull after rain on Saturday, but the forecast and visible satelite pictures showed it would clear.

We had made 15 cakes this time as we had run out on our previous two openings this year.

Gate open at 11am, still dull, but a few people waiting for us to open. It turned out to be a slow start, so much for making more cakes.
But the sun showed about 12.30 and we started to get busy, by the end of the day we had a very nice 282 visitors, and had run out of cake again.
Lots of new visitors, four even made a special journey to us from London. Nationality of some were Irish ;D Turkish, Latvian and Chinese.

So a good finish to our open days, we ended up with 783 visitors in the 15 hours we were open. Thats one every 52 seconds  ;D
It was 14 visitors short of last year, but of course we had been on tv and mentioned in the Telegraph that year.

We still have a couple of private visits to do yet, including a group of 25 to 30 next week. The private visits are not included in the figures given above.

Malcolm

ideasguy:
Well done Lyn and Malcolm. That is a fantastic achievement and a credit to you both for the timeless effort you put into your websites and your magnificent garden to draw visitors from far and wide in this way.
I'm sure those visitors were stunned by what they seen. Well worth the long haul from Ireland :D :D :D

I hope you can take a well earned rest or at least ease off now the pressure is off (apart from private visits)

NightHawk:
Congratulations once again Lyn and Malcolm for a job well done.

Many more people have been given a treat for being allowed to visit your gardens.

Laurie.

newplantguy:
