Title: Hot Keys - to Maximise, Restore Down and Minimise
Post by: ideasguy on May 01, 2013, 10:56:40 PM
In Bank Genie, the main menu has the normal Minimise, Maximise/Restore Down and Close.

One user has "lost" the Menu bar at the top and cant see the icons.
The standard windows shortcuts may help overcome the problem.

Try this with Bank Genie running and the Home page closed, so only the Menu is visible.
Click and hold the Alt key then the space bar.
A menu options dropdown list appears.
The underlined character in the Menu options is the next button to click to complete the actions available.
Some options can be disabled (grey) depending on the current state of the window.

Thus, the important shortcut keys are:-
Maximise   = Alt+SpaceBar+x
Restore Down= Alt+SpaceBar+r
Minimise   = Alt+SpaceBar+n

You can also do there exercises with any other app.

In Windows 10 I have found another way to "cure" this problem.

Hover over the Bank Genie icon in the taskbar and an image of the Bank Genie screen appears; right click on that and the same menu as above appears. Choose "move" and with the mouse  pull the bottom right corner of the Bank Genie screen and the menu bar will reappear.

Thank you for that tip Barry.
I like it best as you don't have to remember the initial keystrokes described in my first posting.

I know from our correspondence that you can actually make this "Disappearing menu" feature happen "reliably" by closing bank Genie down abnormally (not recommended of course!!) so you are the authority on this subject :)
As we discussed, I haven't found any solution to prevent this "Disappearing menu" from happening in the first place >:(

Ive tried your method and there's another little gem variation:

Hover over the Bank Genie icon in the taskbar and an image of the Bank Genie screen appears; right click on that and the same menu as above appears.
It has the options:
On that menu, click Maximise.

Again, these tips work for any Windows program.

Test for me please Barry.
This may be useful for those with wide screens who prefer to run Bank Genie in a resized window.
With the menu "disappeared", what happens when you click maximise (which should restore the main menu) - filling the screen - followed by repeating the sequence and clicking Restore.
Does the menu remain visible?

If you choose the options
Maximise
 and then
Restore

the menu remains hidden.

yes, in Maximised state it is fine. If you actually want a window as opposed to full screen I find you need to do the "move" trick.
