Title: Salisbury Cathedral
Post by: NightHawk on September 16, 2013, 09:37:15 PM
Went for a drive to Salisbury today, the first time we've been here - about 30 miles away.

Didn't have much time for a really thorough look, but managed to get to the Cathedral.

I took a lot of photos of the exterior so have posted just a few here.  Many of the photos are of the statues standing on plinths all around the facia of the cathedral.  Far too many to show here, and would have to be of a large enough size anyway to show their detail.  (Eric will know what I mean  ;) )  Plus, I don't know who any of them are to be of any historical value  :-[

Didn't get to do a tour of the inside  ::)  Maybe next time.

There's restoration work ongoing, as can be seen by the scaffolding on the left.

Thanks George.

There were actually a lot of tourists in my original shots, but I decided to do a bit of work in Photoshop and edited them out  :D

Makes for a less distracting shot  ;)

Gosh! You've done a real good job to get the visitors to "step aside" ;D
I'm impressed with your Photoshop skills Laurie 8)

Great shots Laurie. Why is it the sun always seems to be in the wrong direction? I am often finding that.

Exactly the case here too Eric.

Fortunately, it was masked by a dark cloud at the time so I got away with it.  It was behind the spire at the time, so I would have had a big problem otherwise.
