Two great shows Billy, and thanks for posting the links.
Its almost impossible to do justice to Acers, since any one variety can vary so much from spring colour, through summer and then transforming once again in Autumn.
Youve done a fantastic job in protraying those stages!

George, you reminded me Billy's garden was on TV and from the video a DVD was made. You've got that DVD + the permission to give it out to Forum Members. Would you be so kind to send me one? These Fujiyama presentations have aroused my curiosity. Thanks!

Will do André
Its a very good show, and I'm very grateful to Billy for sending me a copy of the DVD and giving me the permission to share it with you.
Thanks again Whis4ey

As we have some specialists on maples at our Forum I take the opportunity to ask a question for which I found nowhere an answer. Creating a woodedge garden (see other subject about this project) I bought some Acers palmatum. For 3 of them I assume they are hardy in our Belgian Zone 8: Acer palmatum, the cultivars Acer palmatum 'Orange Dream' and Acer shirasawanum 'Aureum'.
Now I am in big doubt about 2 other cultivars: Acer palmatum 'Osakasuki' and Acer palmatum 'Trompenburg'. Both of their labels attached by the seller tell me they are frost hardy till -8°C. When it freezes deeper they would need protection. Who can enlighten me about this matter? Written frankly I don't like to put jackets around my plants.

I would think both of these plants will be perfectly hardy in your climate GF
They certainly are over here in Northern Ireland
I don't know of any Japanese Maple which isn't hardy in Europe

Thanks for the reassurance, Billy. There was a confusing discrepancy between the info on the labels and what I found in the specialized books. George is playing Santaclaus for me: he has postponed the sending of your DVD till the visit of that jester...
