Title: Your front garden could well be on view to anyone on the internet.
Post by: Lyn and Malcolm on March 12, 2010, 11:12:41 PM

Courtesy of Google Street view http://maps.google.co.uk/ (http://maps.google.co.uk/) pull the "man" icon down to the street / road you want to look at.

Now covers pretty well all uk.

I have looked at Georges front garden, I see you get a good view of the Rugby ? matches opposite as well George.

By coincidence, I downloaded Google Earth this week Malcolm. It was a bit grainy in my locality, but yes, you could see the shape of the garden (front and back from all angles) and the surroundings. We could just about see our car at the back of the house. It looked white, and we have now had silver cars for more than 6 years. Could the pictures be that old? If not, perhaps the silver car shone from on high :)

The main rugby field is directly opposite our house. The club has grown and now has three pitches, and as you can see, a very impressive clubhouse.

There was an article on the local news as Google were in Derry City taking street photos. Belfast was done some time ago. My sons house is shown in fine detail in North Belfast

Its amazing technology! That software is almost as good as IG Pro ;D ;D ;D

According to son our house is newly done, but the only image I can find is at least 8 years out of date.

Eric are you sure that the image is Google street view, accessible from Google maps. They have only been doing Street view for the last 18 months ish, so images can't be 8 years old.

Finally managed to see the house. Only took  about 1 and 1/2 hours to load up! Must have been taken sometime ago as there is no rabbit netting on the field gate and we put that up in April last year.

I agree with you there Eric regarding how current the street-view photos are.

I had a look at our house yesterday and it looks to have been taken in summer 2009 judging by the foliage and flowers on our front hedges.

Also, the exterior painting and fitting of new uPVC windows were started in October 2009, but the photo does not reflect that.

Laurie.

Definitely mid April last year, from the flowers and the lack of netting.
