Title: Is your garden early or late this Spring 2009.
Post by: Lyn and Malcolm on February 28, 2009, 09:13:05 AM
We don't keep a diary as such, but do jot down a few things like when seeds are put in, when they come up. When we prune the Clematis, frosts etc.

How early or late the garden is, can be judged by the "lollipop" tree in the back garden, I won't go into what the lollipop tree is at the moment.

The leaves are just beginning to show now, and they are two weeks later than last year, but the same as the previous year.

Just wondered if you had any indicators in your gardens.

I'm looking out at a beautiful Rhododendron, in bloom! I'll take a photo later.
Dont know its variety  :'(

Also Tete-a-tetes, Anemone blanda, crocus, snowdrops, primuilas (bought in pots in bloom so cheating there)
Mainline daffs look like they are about to burst into bloom

Its that Rhodondedron that I worry about.
If it gets a frost it ruins the show. Heres hoping for a mild spell.

The flowers on the "lollipop tree" are just starting to open today.

This is at the same date as last year. So due to the warmer weather and sunshine, we have had recently, we have now made up the fortnight we were behind in my previous post of 28th February.

Does my writing make sense?   :-\
