Found this web site today when having a casual surf

The database now contains over 3000 clematis varieties and more than 2400 photographs showing over 1100 of them.
More varieties and more photographs are regularly being added.

I found out that Nellie Moser is a mis-spelling. It is Nelly Moser.

I have just found this post. A great link George. I have just checked my Flickr site and find that I too have called these "Nellie" instead of "Nelly"
This grows by our dining room window.

If only all plants were as reliable as Clematis!
Matter of interest, are yours North facing Eric?

So does mine Eric. I read that they hold their colour better when North facing. Not many plants like to be North facing, so that makes it useful.
My attempts to propagate at the end of last season appear to have failed (again!) The two pots have the cuttings looking intact, but no sign of a shoot

We also have a C. Jackmanii but for some reason or another I don't seem to have a photo of it. This is very old and doesn't seem as vigourous as it used to be. I forgot to prune it back last year 

The other one is, I think, Clematis Tage Lundell that Malcolm posted but it is a fairly new plant and not well established yet and at the moment the buds are tight shut and not particularly photographable.

Your Clematis 'Marie Boisselot' is a real beauty!
I have the white/very pale pink montana. You seem to have a deeper pink one in your garden (second photo).

Anthea reminded me in the car just now that she did succeed in propagating that pink C. Montana many years ago by pegging a bit down in a flower pot. She left it for many months, in fact she forgot about it for a long time, then she cut the umbilical cord, as it were, when she discovered that it had in fact rooted. We planted that to grow over a garden shed. I had forgotten that !!!

Anthea's half cousin has a very attractive one called Clematis Ville de Lyons. I photographed it when visiting. We can't claim any credit for this one.

Well done Anthea! I have at least one Ville de Lyon, possibly two. One has clambered up a post and along a low electric wire running to a shed. Guess I should prune that thing!

I'll inspect my "Nelly" more closely tomorow. I noticed some thick stems arched onto the ground. I wonder do they have roots?
