Installing Bank Genie on Dropbox
« on: February 16, 2013, 09:33:19 PM »
(off the main topic!) BUT there is no reason not to install BG to your dropbox (or copy it there). I have done this and "by magic" the versions of BG on my THREE computers are now always instep.

Thats pretty smart Barry! Advanced, but smart :)
I think you got away with that because you had Bank Genie already installed on each computer.
Is that correct?
I'll split and move this new discussion later as it is indeed quite off topic.

yes that is correct.

However, installing it to the dropbox ought to work fine.

Yes, but Bank Genie has to be installed on each computer.

Reason:
During installation, Bank Genie (and most software apps) makes changes to the registry so that it can function.
Each computer also needs to have its own Core data folder (created during installation) and that is located under the User Profile.
Bank Genie uses important files in the Core folder, even if you install the executable files in the cloud and copy and use your data to the Cloud. Bank Genie also needs those Core files to start.

Not rocket science, but that's why its a bit advanced!
