DEBORAH'S INTRO
« on: July 26, 2006, 01:03:41 PM »
Hello there fellow gardeners- My name is Deborah and I garden in NE Vermont- USA- extremely short growing season here- 6 months of winter- 2 each of autumn and spring and yup that's right- only 2 summer months.  Makes gardening a bit challenging but that's part of the fun.  I have been adding to my gardens a few new beds a year for the past 6 years.  It is exceedingly rural where I live- closest neighbor is actually 2 miles away- consequently my gardens are purely for my enjoyment- and enjoy them I do.  Also work part-time at Perennial Pleasures- a heritage flower nursery in East Hardwick Vt.  Have a vast assortment of flowers- mostly perennials, some annuals, shrubs, vines, quite a few roses and peonies and some real oddball plants (at least they are so in this part of the world- i.e. Jerusalem Artichoke; Dutchman's pipe) and tons of pictures of my gardens which I use on greeting card that I make.  At any rate, there's my 'a bit longer than brief' introduction.  Am excited about this forum- meeting everyone; seeing how everyone else gardens; what they grow and, of course; learning something new from each of you.  Happy Gardening to all.  Deborah[][/color]

Hi Deborah

Welcome to the forum!  Six months of winter?  That's six months too long!!!  I hate winter - I get too cold if the temperature falls below 70°F!  My ideal temperature is 80°F - I'm a summer person!  Your garden sounds wonderful - I wish mine was rural.  There's a four lane highway not very far from my garden.  It wasn't there for several years when we moved here, but now it's never quiet and the traffic noise is there all the time, even in the middle of the night!  Oh for some silence......
Anyway, I'm sure you'll enjoy this forum, and I hope you can post a few pictures of your garden for us all to see.
