Title: Allium thunbergii
Post by: Palustris on October 01, 2009, 05:35:49 PM
Not certain of the name for this one. I actually got a Best bulbous plant in Show with this very plant, so many years ago it does not bear thinking about. I dug it up, potted it, showed it and replanted it . About 12 inches tall.

A lovely plant, and very well captured Eric!
Those large leaves - do they belong to a neighbouring plant?

Yes, the leaves on this are typical Allium and taste ok too. There is a white form which is not in flower yet, picture to follow if and when.
Think the big leaves are a dandelion.

That's a nice one too, Eric.

We have a yellow allium which survives by the skin of it's teeth.

Thank you Eric. Not sure how happy it is  : >:(  It has reappeared for a few years but it doesn't seem to seed itself.

Funny, it is one of the few Alliums which has totally failed to grow here. Planted a lot of the bulbs one year and not one grew.
