Using Brother PT2730 label printer with Ideas Genie Pro

<< < (7/7)

bossgard:

Phil and/or George –

I’m very interested in using Labelzones’s 100mm x 19mm Stick-In Plant Tags for marking my seed starts. They bear the part number of Q-PTLS10019STIN.

Phil, can you give me any illustrations as to how you use this product, how you go about setting up your label layout, and then the printing of the actual plant tag with your Brothers printer? Labelzone’s website tells me nothing. And, I can’t mentally picture how it all comes together to create the finished pot stick. How does the plant tag fit into your printer for printing? You ‘tear them apart’, please explain.

George, I would like very much if I could take the existing GA048 label layout Avery 8677, 20x4, and have you ‘convert’ it, so that all its features could be used with the winning combination (I hope!) of my Brothers Printer PT2730, and the Labelzone Stick-in Plant Tags.

Thanks to both of you for the help! It all sounds too good to be true! I sure hope it is!

toby, these labels come in a roll, using these labels you have to tear one off the roll then you print your label TZ tape as normal then simply stick onto the arrow label, you will need 18mm TZ tape the most i can fit on that size tape is 4 rows of text that is still is nice readable size, hope that helps if you have any more question please feel free to ask

You asked about my christmas tree enterprise i have done a write up here

Phil, George and Others:

Now the mystery is solved. (I think!) As I understand, you are not directly printing on the potstick with your Brothers PTtouch printer.

You are printing on label media (the Brothers TZe tape with adhesive on the back). And then you attach this printed label media to the potstick supplied by LabelZone.

For further identification I will call the potstick, the ‘support’, since label media can be attached to various kinds of ‘supports’. Am I correct in this?

Are your potsticks something like these?

http://www.charleysgreenhouse.com/index.cfm?searchflag=1&page=_search&s=labels&PageNum_newsearchQuery=1&varShowPer_custom=12&varOrderby=ProductId&varSorting=ASC&varColumns=3&f=1&mtype=3&enter.x=15&enter.y=10

I was having a heck of a time trying to figure out how you tear off a potstick from a roll, and insert it into the PT touch printer for printing.

You can print directly on to potsticks by laser printer, but the stock plastic ‘support’ material is cut quite large in size, and very expensive to purchase.

Thanks, Phil and George! It looks like I’m all set to for spring time seed starting with what I have.

toby thats it, you can buy a printer that will print straight onto the (potsticks supports) but they cost 400 pounds think it was last time i looked, the supports you linked to previously that i use are like this, these are the ones that come 1000 at time on a roll

Note label stuck on

we can also get supprts like this which i call T BED labels (dont know if thats correct name)

hope that helps

Yes Toby, you've got it.
I intend to purchase a roll or two of those labels Phil recommended.
I'm using old stock of plain pot stick labels at present as its near the end of the mad season.
You and I can stock up before spring Toby ;)

Thanks for posting the photos of the labels, Phil. They look good!
