I heard about this Labelling program and label supplier during the week.

Ive posted it here as a reminder of the link and to let Toby comment.

Ive also sent them an email to see if they supply labels to the UK

Ive now received a full and very comprehensive set of samples, one of most you will see on the web site.
http://www.printack.com/accueil_en.html

Ive exchanged a few emails with Printack and they are very interested in doing business in the UK.

I will do a label template for GA048 on the SEMI 44-190 as a starter, and for my own initial requirements.
Theres 44 pointed labels per A4 sheet, individually 11.5 mm wide and 113 mm long, quite similar to the plant pins I use for my pots.
Those labels retail at 100 Euro per box of 100, so working out at 1 Euro per sheet of 44 labels.

Their labels require a Laser printer.
Ive been tipped off about this HP Colour laserjet CP1217 by my colleague
http://uk.shopping.com/xPO-Hewlett-Packard-Colour-LaserJet-CP1217-Colour-Laser-Printer

However, its the cost of running a laser jet thats frightening. Heres an example of the cost of toner cartridges

Question:
Does any of our members have a Laser printer?

It's not only the cost of the cartridges either George.  A few years ago I had a Laser printer that only printed in black, but the drum became faulty and the cost of replacement was almost the cost of a new printer.  Needless to say I didn't get another one.

I can't speak for the colour Laser printers nowadays though, could be better quality and repair costs could be lower.  I can only give you my experience as a guide.

I now only use a colour Inkjet printer.

Laurie.

Thanks Laurie
I designed a Label template yesterday which prints 44 plant pins on an A4 sheet.
GA048 allows pick and place, so that could be 44 individual plant labels, or 44 labels for the same plant, and any combination in between.
I'm going to print out labels for my Chiltern seed trays on a Laser printer.

Printack sell to professionals of course, so top quality would be essential, especially for photos on labels.
I'm staggered at the cost of labels. We take it for granted that we get a nice label with the plants in the pots we buy.
Theres a lot of work in those labels, getting the plant details, then a decent photo and then theres the cost of the labels.
