Altering a plant name
« on: January 21, 2009, 06:08:49 PM »
I made an error entering a plant name I put the Cultivar name in where the species should be.
Could not find a way to alter the error, except by changing the name to Silly allendale 'Charm' deleting that and re-entering the plant. How should I have done it?

Use GA037
Select a plantin list
Click Edit button
Get to screen GA100S36
Click Edit Profile button
Takes you to the edit screen GA100S02, where you make your changes

In screen GA100S02
Since you put the cultivar name in where the Species should be you have to:
Click Work with Species button
In screen GA100S05, select N/A (Not applicable)
Thats probably the bit where you got stuck ?
On return to GA100S02, you'll find the species field has been blanked out
Now enter your cultivar name in the correct field.
Click Save Changes

More info
First time around, when you put the cultivar name in the species field, you created a species record with the name of the cultivar.
After you click the Save Changes button above, the program will ask if you wish to delte the unused species

There is only ONE screen in the system for editing (GA100S02).
When you click that Save Changes button theres pages and pages of programming code executed (especially if you delete a plant)

As a "Challenge", do it all again exactly as before, with another "imaginary" plant and see how it works.
Then delete it.

Perhaps other members will have a go at that as well.

Let me know if that explained OK Eric

Followed this yesterday and it still would not let me. Today, gave it another try and guess what? It works. I am positive that I did exactly the same thing both times. Still now it works and the info is good!

Did the procedure as per your instructions George, and it works for me.
