Using GA008, GA009, GA022S01 & GA0022S02

George:

One of the things I need to do very badly is to try to get all the printed information that I have collected from Magazines, Books, Newspapers and Web sites including Videos under control. We had a brief discussion about this along with another member of the Forum, sometime ago, and I indicated that I was scanning mine to a hard copy and putting them into a search by a keywords software program and then filing the hard copies into file drawers. At that time, you mentioned OCI readers would be another way to go.

Nuance, http://www.nuancestore.com/dr/v2/ec_Main.Entry17c?SID=19198&SP=10023&CID=351246&PID=973452&PN=1&V1=973452&CUR=840&DSP=&PGRP=0&ABCODE=&CACHE_ID=351246 which some how showed up on my computer as a e-newsletter (I think when I registered Photo Shop Elements) is now offering over the internet OMNIPAGE 16 at the nearly half-price of $79.95. If  I purchase that software, I would like to be able to do: Scan the material, bring it into M/S Word, edit it if necessary, and then use Copy (to NotePad) and Paste to bring it into the plant data as on GA022S01 and GA022S02, along with using the entries I make on GA008 & 9. You have a PASTE button on GA022S01 & 02. Can I do this?

If yes, then is Nuance Omnipage 16 a good way to go, or would you recommend some other software.

Thanking you,
- Toby

Anything you can view in WORD, or Notepad, can be brought into any data field in any IG, Flower Genie etc.
All you do is copy from the text editor, and paste it into the desired data field.

If the document has hyperlinks (links to web pages) they will be active in the Genie software.

You don't need to go through the copy to Notepad step.
The Genie data fields are like Notepad - all formatted items are removed - only plain text is pasted.

I'd have to do some research on that. Perhaps others on the forum would like to take up that challenge.
Perhaps theres something free out there?

Make sure you read the system requirements for Nuance Omnipage 16 - Hardware requirement and Software.
The software takes up quite a bit of disk space. Also, you need the .net Framework 3.0 which again takes up a right chunk of disk space (its a free download from MS, I think)

OK, over to other members to comment.

Well, I'm really sorry Toby I would love to have been able to help on this one.  The fact is I've never had a scanner.  The need has never cropped up strangely enough.

It's not a 'back-heel' job, it's just that I would be going in pretty cold and maybe not track down exactly what you need, and that's fully compatible with your computer setup.

I'm quite certain there will be some of our other members out there who have experience of scanner software to point you in the right direction though.

So, two down..... :-[  can anyone out there help Toby?

Laurie.

Thanks guys! It's just that I didn't know of Nuance's reputation in the computer world. Will ponder the situation for awhile, if anybody has anything on Nuance please let me know. Will keep in touch on this one with you.

Yippee! Just transfered M/S Word text to Plant Data on GA022S02! Seeing is believing!
