Database explorer GA037
« on: May 16, 2009, 01:08:12 PM »
Idea queary
database explorer GA037 - GA037S01 - Click on print - GA100S41 select preview then click on print Report Designer - ga027r01.frx appears,

All of the information on the preview screen Report Designer - ga027r01.frx comes direct from whatever you have entered for that plant in GA027, I know that you can select from GA100S41 whether to print SPECIES data and print PLANT data, but sometimes this still runs into 2 pages or more when printing

Is it possible to edit on screen GA100S41 or any where else, (without deleting the original text you have for that plant in PLANTS AND GARDENS GA027) what you want to print so as to try and make it fit on 1 page

just a thought no doubt i am over looking something and this option may be available some where

Phil

Good suggestion Phil.
I could make those fields editiable in GA100S41, so you can print shorter version.
Let me look at that in more detail

could you do a save changes button aswell in GA100S41 if its not to much trouble so as the new text is always their, if its  a big job keep it till later, just thinking on a commercial basis i could use the print outs to send with plant orders as a plant info guide

so as the new text is always there
If you mean you want to save the edited Plant Data in a different location in addition to the Plant Data itself, then that would require a change to the database structure.
Have I understood correctly what you want to Save?

i mean saving the edited text in GA100S41, leaving it in same place if possible so as i can simply go back to that that plant and print out again without having to edit all over again, hope that makes sense

Yes, thats what I thought.
It would require an additional field to save that data, or two if you also wnat to save the edited Species data.

Feedback would be much appreciated.
What do our Ideas Genie, IG Pro and Bonsai Genie users think about such a change?

I personally haven't come across the need to edit and re-save the data separately at this point, but Phil has seen a benefit in being able to do this.

I can see his reasoning for requesting this, and I don't disagree with him.

Let's have more feedback to see what others think.
