In the landscape template, the Text line appears actually on the photo (not in white space) at the bottom.
Are you OK with that?
With that, you get the maximum photo size.

OK, version 7 is now ready for download.

The update:
GA049
http://www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/GA049-dl-exe
This should indicate Version 7 after installation

Note that I had to make the labels suit my very old Lexmark Z31 printer.
(I'm replacing the Lexmark in the next month or so.)

It has totally different characteristics that the Laser printer I use in the Belfast office.
Headaches continue!
However, if it suited that old contraption, it should be fine on modern printers as reported by our members in the special thread about non-printable areas.

Let me know how it goes.

George

Version 7 works fine for me, and in the 4 picture portrait the text is fine below the picture, in print preview the text does not overlap onto the picture, this is how I like it. Best version yet.  ;D

I shall be making some more sales labels in the coming week, as we are going to another HPS plant sale to offload some more plants, we have too many to store here and at two other locations, some have got to go. :)

Thank you

Malcolm

Thats great Malcolm, and I'm really pleased it is going to prove useful.

What type of media to you print on?
For the greenhouse, Ive printed labels on plain paper and laminated, then sliced them with a guillotine. It works well for short term usage. I've a few outdoors and keeping an eye on how durable they are.

Durabrite ink on Photo paper, then laminate then cut with Photo trimmer.

The cost of the photo paper and ink is easily recovered in the extra sales generated, as seen last weekend when we did a trial of a few labels.
The labels will only be used on open days and plant sales we attend. So no problem with durability.

We decided not to put the price on the label, as some of the plants are smaller than others, and it leaves it more open to changing prices.

I'd like to request a photo (well, a few photos) to put on my website. Publicity for both our causes  ;)
1) a photo of a label with plant(s)
2) A photo of your stand with plants and labels visible
3) A photo of you and Lyn at the stand.
More than one if you want to push the boat out!

Another question.
How do you support the labels?
One photo per individual pot, or does one photo do a batch of plants on a display area?

Have just done a trial print out after downloading v7 the only problem i have is that the text of one botom picture is outside of the printing section

the margin at the bottom of the page is way bigger than the top and side margins useing a ruler
T 5mm
B 15mm
L 5mm
R 5mm

I know my pics are not brilliant in size wise i intend to try to get all pics to a standard size (what would be a good size to use) which will fill a page nicely with 4 pics and the plant name

any ideas

George

Will do re the pictures, I had intended to do that anyway  (honest I did)  :)
The plant stall is over the Bank holiday weekend.

At the moment the labels are attached to thin green canes about 18 inches tall, and until I can think of a better way of attaching to the stick, I am using Duct tape on the back of the label.

We are using one label to a batch of the same plant, normally have say 3 of a particular plant with one label, the stick is in one of the pots, so the label is held above the plant. Spare plants are under the bench and come up as and when a plant is sold. We make sure the buyer doesn't go off with the label.
Each plant pot has 2 white labels in, one with name of plant, which stays in the pot on purchase, the other label has price on, which gets taken out when plant sold.
When we get home the price labels should add up to what money we bring back, less of course the float of change.  ;D

As a matter of interest. When we open we have money floats for the gate, kitchen, and for each of the 2 sellers on the plant stall. We have a good idea now what denomination of coins/notes should be in each float. The total of the floats is £180  :o

Another couple of tips:

1)
The templates are designed for standard rectangular aspect ratios 3:4
If photos are not standard e.g. square, then they wont fill the allocated regions allocated for the printed image.
If they are 3:4 then they will be perfect.

2) The program is designed to maintain proportions.
Thus it wont stretch the photo out of its normal aspect ratio

3) Small images will be enlarged to fit
Large images will be squeezed into the region

4) The text always appears in the same location, irrespective of photo size

Yes, Phil, as Malcolm has posted, the photos look best when 3:4 aspect ratio for that design.
However, other aspect ratios will also work, but you will get white areas, as in the sample you've posted.
No 4 in your set may be Landscape image. Try that one in the landscape template.

The dimensions are as per my design, to suit my Lexmark printer.
If you look at the dimensions of the non-printable area reported by members you'll see that the bottom dimension is larger in some cases.
Thus, Ive designed a solution to suit all, explaining the 15mm you've measured at bottom.

The only worry I see is the text for number 4 appearing below the box.
How did you manage that feat?

EDITED LATER: Phil, please check if you have a blank line of text in Photo No 3
That would cause the text to float below the bottom edge of the rectangle.

Is this happening to any other members output?
Mine is perfectly within the rectangle

You'll notice that a rectangle on your output
Thats the borders Ive worked to, hopefully to suit all the dimensions reported in the non-printable area topic.

Please let me know:
a)  if you DONT see all 4 sides of the rectangle, for both Lansdscape and portrait templates.
b) if you see output OUTSIDE of the rectangle

When all is working, I can remove that rectangle. However,it may be a good guideline for shearing.
What do you think?

You have your stalls off to perfection. I am very impressed!
and Floats = 180. Thats a lot of cash to come up with!
I'd love to visit and see this in action and take those photos myself  :)
Maybe one day I'll surprise you  ;D
Meanwhile, thanks for the offer of the photos. Looking forward to seeing them.

Answers
1 I think it be best to play around with camera size pics and see what works best, in portrait and landscape printig setup and stick to that for all pics if possible, its just that i like any pics on a page to be the same size if at all possible the camera i have is a kodak c310 which does ahve differnt picture aspects 4.0mp down to 1.1mp the closest to 3.4 is 3.5 on my camera
2 text number 4 i have no idea how it managed to get below the box
3 i can see all 4 sides of the rectangle in both portrait and landscape so i think i am good there

personally i would keep the rectangle it comes in usefull for print preview purposes, seeing if any text is outside of it  ;)

The 3:4 aspect ratio should not be confused with the mp sizes.
To see the ratio, use My computer or Windows explorer to look at the folder contents.
Hover over a file name (jpg)
A dialog box appears.
Look for what it says for Dimension
e.g. my pics show Dimension 1600 x 1200
Divide 1600 by 4, answer 400
Multiply 400 by 3, answer 1200
That tells me the aspect ration is 3:4

Just take photos and play with the program, Phil.
It really doesnt matter if they are all the same size anyway, as you are going to cut them up!
No worries there.

I will have to keep a look out for the Ryan Air flights that come in to Bournemouth from Dublin, depending on the direction of the wind, they either land or take off almost over us. The airport is about a mile and a quarter from us.  ;D  ;D

i have had a look and i can not see any blank line i have played around for about an hour with same pic in landscape and portrait and i can not get any text below your rectangle line now, i just dont know how it happened the first time  ???

whilst on the subject of labels etc is it possible to do a picture with plant info at the side of it in portrait style useing GA049 i looked at 2 Photos-With Text but it does not seem to do it, trying to achieve the layout that you find on the bed labels in garden centers, 2 photos and text on 1 page

Its good the text is back in its design position, Phil.

The 4th template in the list does 2 photos with text, but all in line.
I can do the design youve shown Phil. Will do when I take a break from Bank Genie.

Note that the Labels program GA048 is for Garden Centre type labels with photos.
Toby and I have done extensive work on that but for US labels. Now its time for A4 stock.
We'll move to that program after weve finished with GA049, and do labels per request.
Have you tried the Labels program yet?

Ive done that 2 photo template for you Phil.
Also 2 new templates for Toby and other US users, for Letter size paper (8.5 x 11 ins)

When installed, everyone should now see 10 templates.

Heres the download instructions again:

2 downloads required:
(1)
GA049
http://www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/GA049-dl-exe
This should indicate Version 8 after installation

Reminder (before starting the next download):
Start GA200. Item 6 shows you the path to the Core data folder on your computer.

(2)
The new templates.
http://www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/picpages-dl.exe
By default, this download installs 3 files in this folder:
c:\documents and settings\<user name>\local settings\temp\picpages
Open the folder and movbe the 3 files to the Core data folder (see above)

Alternatively (easier)
During installation, look for the option to Change the installation folder.
Change it to the Core data folder.

The 4th template in the list does 2 photos with text, but all in line.
Downloads installed successfully.

I've tested the new template - 2 Photos with text, both identical in size and text for each on the right hand side.
This works perfectly.

Laurie.
