A new rose (to us) flowering today

(1/2) > >>

Lyn and Malcolm:

Summer Wine

Well it survived the heavy rain last night, and a light rain this afternoon.
I must admit I did not check the perfume, said to be strongly scented or lightly scented depending what you read.

Lyn bought it last year in a sale

Malcolm

ideasguy:
Cheers!

Nice photo Malcolm, and a very interesting plant.

Heres a challenge for you and our members.
Its full name according to the RHS Plant finder is:
Rosa Summer Wine (='Korizont')
It is protected by Plant Breeders Rights
In the classifications of Rosa, it belongs to the Climber group.

You can put all of that into IG Pro.

Heres how to enter the plant name.
Step 1
In the cultivar field, enter Korizont
Thats the name the plant was given when registered as a cultivar.

Step 2
In the Sub Species pop-up, select Trade Name
In the field adjacent, enter Summer Wine
The plant may be sold under different trade names e.g. in different countries.
However, the cultivar name never changes.

Step 3
In the plant profile screen (when editina plant in GA100S36) check the PBR checkbox.
PBR stands for Plant Breeders Rights

To get it to show the <Cl> do this.
Step 4
Under files, Start GA019 - Genera with Divisions/Categories
Add Rosa to the list

Step 5
Still in GA019, set up the Division/Category/Classification (whatever you choose to think of it as) with the name
Climbers and Ramblers
In the Classification Group field (8 characters max), make sure you enter Cl

Step 6
Now start GA004
Select the Genus Rosa
Note that when a Genus has Divisions entered in GA019, a new button appears (wwDivisions)
Click the wwDivisions button
ww= work with (you knew that didnt you  :))
In screen GA004S03, use the options to add your plant to the Climbers and Ramblers division.

Now to see it displayed correctly:
In GA037, make sure the Plants with Trade Names setting is set to Full (other option is Short)
Select the genus Rosa, find your plant
if its entered correctly, it will show like this in the Plants list:
Rosa Summer Wine (='Korizont') PBR <Cl> (Pink) [Shrub]

End of challenge for today folk. Let me know how you get on.

NightHawk:
I found that plant already listed in the downloadable database on my C: drive, but I was able to follow along with the steps to a certain extent.
(Or have I missed something here.  :-\ )

Laurie.

ideasguy:
Yes, its in the Downloadable database, Laurie, so all should be able to edit the plant and see how its done in that database.
However, its not placed in a Classification in the downloadable database, as I didnt know what type it was until Malcolm raised the subject.

For the purpose of this challenge, please add it to your own database (can delete later)
Ive renumbered the steps for discussion purposes.
In the steps, what point did you get to before running into diffs?

I must have worded that incorrectly George.  I didn't run into any problems.  When I said I followed along to a certain 'extent' I just meant I was able to go through the steps, but not being able to enter all the details as if it was a new plant.

I'll try adding it to my own database as suggested.

Laurie.
