Root aphids

I bought some Auriculas at the weekend. When I came to pot them up I discovered they were riddled with root aphids. I really ought to have sent them back, but the cost and inconvenience is more than the plants are worth. I have complained to the Nursery and will plaster their name all over the Internet if I do not get an answer from them soon. However, in the meantime, I have washed the roots bare and repotted in fresh compost. This I would have done any way as I do not like the pure peat composts they use.

My question is, is there any recommended insecticide I can use to make sure the little critters are dead? As it is not a food plant I am happy to use chemicals on them.

Insecticidal soaps can be applied as a drench.
Pot-grown plants can be treated with a liquid greenfly killer such as Derris or *Imidacloprid
