Thank you for the trip round Harlow Carr, Eric. it is impossible for me to get there these days. Geoffrey Smith (Gardeners World , and many other broadcasts) was superintendent there for twenty years. My father taught him at Barnard Castle School. He was there for six years and hated it although he seemed fond of my father and kept in touch.

It is 140 miles from here, but mostly Motorway, but the chances of us going again are small so we thought we would have a last look round. We used to go when we lived nearer and could go on from there to the Inlaws afterwards.
It went downhill a lot before the RHS took it over, but they have really brought it back to good condition. Changed a lot of things though and the prices in the Garden Centre were eye watering.
