Title: Busy Lizzies
Post by: ideasguy on June 11, 2006, 11:21:36 PM
Has anybody any tips for growing these things outdoors?

When I transplant them outdoors, they huff and puff and really dont live up to their common name.

I saw a fantastic display in a garden in Dublin once, where the plants formed a lovely 2ft (60 cm) spreading mat of pale pink at the edge of a border along a path. At the time, I assumed it was one plant which had spread, but now I'm thinking it must have been a mass planting of plants of the same colour.

Ive tried a number of times to recreate this effect, but no luck so far. Ive 2 attempts again this year, with the plants set out about 6in apart.

I did better this year.
Here they are making some kind of statement to left and right of the arch.

My son Julian (JKLabels - guess what he does to help the IFG projects!) and grandson James.
