The first three photos are near to the Barrow Moor car park.

A very bulbous base on this tree, covered in moss.

The next few photos are just in, and near to, the Knightwood Oak Forestry Commission car park.

This fir tree has lost a lot of its branches lower down (a magnificent height).

Photo 5 - this tree is not far from the one above, and has suffered the same fate of lower branch loss (another lofty specimen).

This one is next to the historic tree called the Knightwood Oak (opposite side of the road from the car park).  Both seem to be fighting for the same bit of real estate.

In the same area as Photo 6.  This tree is sporting a fine array of fungi, which is happily co-existing with the tree.

Excellent photos Laurie. That first fallen tree looks like a large rather weird creepy crawlie!

You've captured some very unusual specimens there!

Great, Laurie. We seem to have found a fascinating subject. There is quite a similarity to some of my shots where they are beech trees. The wood where mine were taking is almost entirely beech.
