the Chapel of the Forum

(1/1)

greenfinger:
In this chapel I have prayed this afternoon for the members of the Forum that they may find their keyboards and inspiration.  ;)

ideasguy:
Thats a lovely little chapel, André. What is it called? Where is it located?

I'm sure you thought of many more worthy and needy things to pray for, but thanks for that needy action  ::) ;)

greenfinger:
That rather little building is one of the most important places of pilgrimage in our regions. It's situated in our village (Lubbeek) and built in neo-gothical style (late 19th century).
Local history tells us that at this place a chapel was originally built in the late middle ages by a landlord whose two daughters died somewhat at the same time. During the procession to the cemetery there was a terrible storm and the people had to hide under the trees. Afterwards they couldn't lift the two coffins anymore from the ground and it was decided to build a chapel there for St.-Mary. The original building was torn down immediately after the French Revolution when we were occupied by the French.
A little century after that this one was erected.
