Hyacinths

Gorgeous bulbs!
These are easily obtained each year for use as houseplants (at least in Ireland), and we buy a few pots each year.
This year its a pot of White  and a pot of Pink.
Theres 3 bulbs to each 6in pot.
 
Problem is, the heavy blooms are too strong for the stems and they flop. If alllowed, they fall completely and droop over the edge of the pot. Ive tied them up with sticks and twine.

Too late for this years bulbs, but how can I avoid this problem next year?

My uncle gave me flowering hyacinths for Christmas last year. When they were finished I left them in a bag of wood shavings in the shed. About 3 weeks ago when I was going through my supply of bulbs I found the hyacinth bulbs already sprouting by about 1 inch. So into a pot they went, and are now stored in a cool shady part of the garden. They are already about 5inches high already.

So, through no effort on my part I will probably have flowering hyacinths for Christmas. (Magic bulbs  :o)
