A little problem with the images at present (not showing fully).

I thought it was Eric being artistic with his pictures.

I think hes teasing us  ::)

Its like episode 1 (partly revealed)
Be sure to tune in for episode 2  ;D

The photos and garden look great. I'm looking forward to Episode 2  ;)

Edited later to say:
This may give you an idea of the agony Eric is experiencing with dial up.
I had a look at the time stamp of the files he's uploaded.
The range is
18:07 to 18:59
Thats a long time to bite your nails!

Tried again this morning, no go, still getting timed out. I have reduced the file sizes of the Images again (twice now) and I will try again. Bit worried about the quality if I go any further down. If this does not work then I will have to find a way to use a Braodband machine, I am not too happy about having to do that though.

What size are the image files (jpg files) Eric?

The htm files are OK. They are very small and seem to be OK as is.
Concentrate on one jpg and see what happens.

If you are really stuck, put them on a CD and send it to me and I'll upload them for you.

Easier still.
They are probably on the CD you sent me (are they?)
If yes, I can make copies, resize and upload to your folder
Thats a good option.

JUST NOTICED:
You've succeeded with some of the photos (fully showing)
These are now OK
Intro, 1, 2, 3,4,5, and 8

Cannot remember what was on the Disc I sent you with regards to Garden photos. You would need to look for a file called AugiustGardenTour (or similar).
I have reduced the files to between 75 kb and 105 kb and still it Times out.
I have changed all the Text in the HTML files so they need altering too.
Probably best to wipe the thing  and start again and see what happens.
I can reduce the file sizes again, but not sure what effect that has on the resolution when displayed on the Web.

URGENT
Dont wipe anything Eric.
Ive sent you an email with alternatives.
I like your project as it stands. It would be a disappointment to give up on that.

I'll look for those photos.

With a will theres a way, and we'll get there somehow!

The good news is I have all those photos on the CD you sent me.
I will resize and upload the ones youve published tomorrow.

What I need from you:
The Reviews program (GA032)  is now at Version 40
I think you downloaded this already.

When you generate your web pages the program creates a log which contains details of the photos, the plant names and the URLs for each web page in the WPG project.
The log file is called pagelog2

I need you to go into the folder:
C:\igdata_sets\web\AGT
find three files
pagelog2.dbf
pagelog2.cdx
pagelog2.fpt

Please zip them up and email them to me. The zip file will be quite small and should be OK for your dial up.
That will give me a list of the photos I need to upload for you.

Hows that?

Malcolm has already worked with me to develop that tramsmission process, and we had to do it using the ZIP file (after a bit of hair loss both sides of the Irish sea).

I have just washed mine, pleased to say there is plenty left.

How did the links for the Chiltern cat go George, it has been very quiet on that.

Went very well Malcolm. Its going to be a success!
In the pagelog files (similar to the ones Ive requested from Eric) I was able to write a program to cross reference all the images in your HUGE WPG to the plants in the Master Database (step 1) then cross reference those to the Chiltern Catalog (step 2)
found the ones you pointed out, and some more, so its looking real good.
I'd hoped to get that finished this weekend, but I'm off the case just now.

I'm writing User Guide for Bonsai Genie (totally applicable to Ideas Genie Pro 5)
All IG Pro members:
Have a go at Chapter 4 (Events)
http://www.garden-software.co.uk/Bonsai/userguide4/userguide4.html

Im writing Chapter 5 (Tasks) and will be reviving the Winter Lessons Topic soon.

HAVE to get that Chiltern project finished ASAP and will update you and the others then.

That worked OK Eric.

Surprisingly it didn?t work when Malcolm sent me the same files.
Pagelog2 arrived corrupted and it only worked when he zipped them up.
That?s why I asked you to do the same.

The photos from your CD resized and uploaded to  the server.
Ive taken the Garden Tour and the photos are all there.

The process works, Eric. Now you can take a bow, tell all your friends and relax.
Sooo, Members, heres the Invitation to view (Erics "trademark") Heres the URL to email to friends:
http://www.ideasforgardens.net/berghill/AGT/

I have to say I really enjoyed the tour. Witht he photos on CD I tried to figure out the layout/design of your garden. It took me a while, but its much easier when you have those captions.

You can write more test if you wish. I'd love to know what the significant plants are in the photos.
No one has reported having completed Challenge No 3 here:
http://www.flowergenie.co.uk/ideas/forum/index.php/topic,761.0.html
If you can figure that out, you will have a really good understanding of the photos features of the system.
When you make any changed from now on, all you have to do is upload the htm files and tell me what (if any) additional images have been added to the WPG project.

There should be an emoticon for clapping and blowing a kiss.
Cheers.
Challenge 3 will have to wait for a minute or two. I have been adding plants to the Data base all day so that I can do a Show plants Web page.

Welll I'm  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

It was really easy.
Put CD with Erics photos in drive
Start IG Pro
Start Tools> Resize Photos GA051
Location for originals (CD)
Location for reduced folders (Make a new empty folder)
Max Height 640 Max Width 640
In resize options, Resize all
Wait for a minute - IG says job done.

Start FTP program and connect
Uploaded the images.
You're gonna weep Eric. It took about 1 minute

I need to know how to Edit pages within the uploaded files. I have noticed a mistake in one of the pages of the latest piece of nonsense. http://www.ideasforgardens.net/palustris/New_Paths_and_Alpine_Area/  on Page 9 and I am blowed if I can see how to change just that one page.

Sorry George I accidentally wiped the folder so I have had to Upload it again. The new version of Filezilla allows one to extend the time limit so it is not as much of a problem as it was before.

Great job Eric. I'm impressed!!
I love those rocks - hard to explain to others who are not gardeners though!
You must have built up muscles like superman doing that job!

Yes, I can see it all now.
Have you fixed the text on the page now?

Yes. For some reason even though I deleted the page with the mistake and uploaded the corrected version, the original was still the page which showed up on the Web. Very odd. Yet when I Uploaded the whole folder again (only took 40 minutes!) the corrected version is the one which appears.
Only someone who likes growing alpines would get excited about a load of old rocks!
