Program updates - 30th Sept 08
« on: September 30, 2008, 11:07:26 PM »
www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/GA004-dl.exe
When installed and executed, should indicate Version 50 or later

www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/GA030-dl.exe
When installed and executed, should indicate Version 24 or later

www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/GA032-dl.exe
When installed and executed, should indicate Version 33 or later

www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/GA037-dl.exe
When installed and executed, should indicate Version 23 or later

The main changes are in GA032
a) Ive changed the Search tools on the interface to be the same as GA004 etc

b) Theres a new Gardens tab

c) When you look at plants listed under the Gardens tab, theres a prefix
*** if a plant is already included in the currently selected Review.
Blank if not included

d) Better management of the plant list when you edit a plant and return to the initial screen.
After editing in GA100S36 and returning to initial screen, you'll see the same list of plants, with
  • any changes made to the plant you edited (including shuffling the plant up or down the list if necessary)
  • Deleted plant will be removed from list

e) Change to the search feature.
Best explained by example. Try this (in the initial screen GA032S01). In Genus search field, start typing the characters of a Genus in your database.
After 2 characters, a predictive list of matching Genera appears, and you can click on a Genus in the predictive list
Did you know you could use the spacebar?
For this exercise, keep typing until the Genus you want is TOP of the list
Once the Genus is TOP of the list, click the spacebar.
The program acts as if you'd clicked the Genus in the Genera options list, and displays all plants in the Genus.

That is fine for Genus and Species, as they only have one word, so that remains unchanged.

However, it had limited value in the case of Cultivars with more than one word in the cultivar name.
e.g. 'Pink Pagoda'
In the Master Database, there's a miriad of plants in the list after you've typed Pink - so many its a slow search through the list
The Change:
Ive made it so that clicking the spacebar does NOT automatically select the item at the top of the list (in the cultivar search only).
Instead, you can continue typing, into the second word.
After you've reached Pink Pa the list is much smaller, and its easy to see the plant you are looking for.

f) Changes to screen GA032S08
  • A filter added - allows users to filter on Plants which do NOT have a Web Image (great for anyone with a very large list of plants - compensates for headaches caused from downloading program updates  ;) :)
  • A new Auto-click Last check box (top right region of screen)
When checked:- After you select a photo for a plant, the program clicks the Last button, setting the Photographer pop-up for you
Use with care if more than one photographers images are used in your project
  • A text field shows the number of pics in the project (Counts Plant photos and Garden photos)

Changes in GA004
a) A Niggly fix in GA100S36
When you are editing a plant, then click Cult/Properties then click Define Cult/Properties you get to the Global editing screen (in this instance GA100S30CG)
The program shows all plants in the Genus (thats why its called GLOBAL editing)
Wouldn't it be nice if the program were to locate and highlight the plant you were editing? (particularly if there are 1000's of plants in the Genus)
Thats what it should have been doing. Its now fixed to do that.
b) Item (e) in GA032 has also been applied to GA004.

Changes in GA030
Bug fix
I found a nasty problem when linking a second photo to a plant   :o :-[
Ive fixed that same bug before in other IG Pro programs where you link plants to photos (so they were OK). Also OK in FG.
All should be OK now.

GA037
Picking up common screen change in GA100S36

I've downloaded and installed the new updates, and can report that everything functions correctly.  ;D

The changes made to GA004 - your 'Niggly fix in GA100S36':
I had not previously tried the Cult/Properties feature when editing a plant, so I selected a plant from my database (a Geranium).

When I got to screen GA100S30CG, which listed several plants in the Geranium genus, the one I was editing was highlighted in that longer list. Perfect.

Another triumph George - you are certainly doing justice to your 'GCM' award.  :D

Laurie.

Thanks Laurie
Since youve now discovered Global editing, have fun  :)
I put a lot of work into that!
What you enter there is used in the Query program GA006

I need another card of RAM in my brain, no sooner do we learn about the updates, then another update appears.  :)

Yes all are working here ok George, thanks.

I have already found 3 plants that were in the plants list but not in the reviews. Found them in the no *** in garden areas.
Hopefully going to add some garden views tonight. How many entries did you say we have 9999?  ;D

Good one. Glad you are publishing on YOUR server  ;D  :)

Great work, Toby.
Youve given me an idea!
Introduce the manual in small sections! That way it gets read (unlike the VAST majority of manuals  :D)
Seriously, I agree with Laurie - in fact, I'd say you are now in the "advanced user" category  :)
As Ive said in my private emails -Boss, I'm proud o' ye'
