Burgundy
« on: June 23, 2008, 07:45:31 PM »
Lut and I are leaving for France tomorrow. We will be visiting Burgundy during one week. I've found a brochure about gardens in that region so I'll try to explore them. The camera (Panasonic DMC-TZ2) will be within handreach.

Good luck on your trip to France André, we hope you have a great time.

I've never been to France but Kathy has been there when she was a little girl, and has also lived in Germany for a while.

We look forward to seeing your photos.

Laurie.

Thanks.
Of course I'm planning to take a lot of pictures, from Roman churches too. Roman architecture is what the French call my 'dada'.
And naturally I know I can't let my plant friends down, so pictures will follow on the Forum.
Et maintenant la Douce France, mes ami(e)s ........

Big Brothers watching me??
We came back completely exhausted!! That's why we go on holiday ;D
I took exactly 1000 pictures, not all of them pieces of art of course. Needless to say digital photography is a blessing.
Weather very fine, food the same.
The fields, meadows, canals are the gardens of Burgundy. I didn't see much gardens like those in GB.
We visited a lot of little churches, all of them in Roman style.
Pictures follow tomorrow.

Here come the devils of the city of Autun. Burgundy seems full of them.

One of the many gargoyles:

The church of Gourdon is in my eye the most beautiful of those in Roman style:

Mont-St.-Vincent, medieval city:

Some species of homo ludens in the fields:

Le père Confessor and the sinner:

Strange people, these Français!!

et bien, et bien, not a flower in sight, of course not: it was a highly cultural voyage!  ;D ;D
One evening however we visited the recently restored church of the hamlet Echarnant. Not a living soul to see there, but a most charming church in - how can you guess - Roman style.

There also was a remake of a medieval garden:

A list with the plants follows. The resolution of the pictures is sufficient to enhance them, I hope.

They are surprisingly legible.
