New Computer and Bank Genie... Help!
« on: March 10, 2017, 03:18:39 PM »
I have a new PC on its way to me.  Three things:
1) I presume I just install Bank Genie on the new PC from my disk.
2) I can't remember the safe place I put the disk!  If I can't find it will I have to re-purchase?
3) When installed presumably I can restore my info from the back up on my portable hard drive?

Have I missed anything else that I may need to be doing?

John

Hi John

I'm sure you are looking forward to a nice new computer!

Answering your questions 1) to 3) below

1)
Our records show you purchased back in Jan 15 so:
a) Yes, use the CD if you can find it.
b) If not, I can send you a replacement (current) CD. To cover P&P, please choose Option 6 here:
http://www.bankgenie.net/buyBG/buybg.html
c) you can download the latest version.
Send me an email and I will reply with the link if you wish to go for that option

2)
You don't need to repurchase.
You will need your licence reset, but we have a Licence Resetting Service for that purpose.
Get in touch by email after you have installed Bank Genie Pro again.

3)
Yes - use the Restore program under the File tab to restore data from your backup.
I'm relieved to hear you have a backup :D

Found the disk lurking in a plastic storage tub in the garage. I knew it was somewhere safe!  If I use my disk will the licence number still work?  Is there much of a change from the version I have?  If I need a licence reset it may well pay to download the newer version instead of reinstalling from the original disk.

Here's hoping that my back up was done correctly!

Thanks George!

The Licence number can be reused after we reset your licence for you John.

There are no major changes compared to the version you have on the CD.

I will send you the link to the download tomorrow if you'd like to try that.

Thank you George
I'm actually going to be away for a few days from later today (Saturday).  Was thinking about doing a reinstall from the disk this morning.  How long does it take for a licence reset?

I'm having a spot of bother with download speeds at the moment BT seems to be a bit erratic this morning!

All up and running on the new pc!  Did the licence reset request online and just a touch over 3 hours later I was able to re-register my software on the new pc.  The restore from back up seems to have worked a treat!  I would recommend regular back ups as this will save a lot of time and effort.  Thank you to both George and James for their time. :D

Thank you John.
We had to wait until James got home from football training, hence the delay!
He's amazing on the computer. Show him something once and he's "got it".
Licence resetting involves finding the customer details on our own Sales Order Processing system (written by your truly of course), logging in online and using MyAdmin on a MySQL database, finding the customer record and doing the reset.
Its a vital service. I have set it up so he gets a little incentive :D

Please raise a new topic to discuss the Regular Backup reminder feature we discussed (following your request).

Hi George,

Again I seem to be calling on your assistance. Having successfully installed Bank Genie on wife's laptop I have now purchased a new Notebook for myself so that I won't have to keep borrowing her machine! I understand for above that I can have the licence reset for when I put the software on my new portable but the Registration dialogue box in the software says I need to pay a re-registration fee. Happy to do that but how do I go about that?
Regards
Tony Ray
