'Resizeable Windows' Pop-up
« on: April 28, 2013, 05:43:10 AM »
Hi George,

Have you thought about having a tick option to 'Do not show this message again' on the 'resizeable window' message (and perhaps others) rather than having to go to BS498 to complete the action?

Go to Preferences.
Uncheck Show Resize Screen Messages

That stops the message globally.

Yes, I know that George, what I'm saying is that the first time you see it (and subsequent times if necessary), there should be an easy to use option to stop the message reappearing. The simplest solution I can think of is to have a checkbox giving the user an option to turn off the message there and then rather than having to go into the bowels of the programme to switch it off.

If we want this app to really take off, it has to be made more user-friendly. Users these days expect to see an option to stop messages and pop-ups

I need to look at how its programmed.
I will either:-
1) make it stop showing the message altogether.
OR
2) Make it show only ONE message per session.

Incidentally, here's what I do remember (off the top of my head) about what I programmed for it.
a) The program does a check.
If the user hasn't seen the screen before, it issues the message, as its "new" and they haven't repositioned or resized that screen before.
The message is NOT shown again FOR THAT SCREEN.
Thus there is no need to issue a "Don't show this again" option.
b) The program limits the number of messages to a set value (more than 1 at present). I will probably do 2) above.

Hi George

I get the message constantly until I disable it in the Preferences screen (BS498). I found myself shouting at the computer, "I know for goodness sake, you keep telling me" (computer rage?) :)

Ive made changes - its in the latest menu version. Here's the new rules:-
  • the Show Screen Resize messages option in Preferences can be used to switch off the Windows are resizable message (as it was before)
  • if setting is ON- the Windows are resizable message is only shown once per session
  • if setting is ON- the message only appears when you access a screen which you have never used before (as it was before)

The new Menu is available in the new Group Updates. A few users have been testing the changes.
Available to all soon.
