Nice to see some colour pushing through the snow there Eric.

A lot of our more tender plants got really flattened by our recent snowfall.  I was out there with a brush getting most of the weight off them.

Thankfully, all snow has gone here now.  The last couple of days has been raining which cleared it away.

I'd like to try Winter Aconites Eric - I've never grown them before and if they are as hardy as that AND produce flowers at this time of year, I can certainly use them
Should I buy them as small plants or grow them from seed?
What variety is that one in Photo No 2?

Buy only as growing plants or get fresh green seed and sow immediately. The bulbs you see in G/C's are dead. Dried seeds are also dead.
That is  Eranthis hyemalis which is the commonest one and the easiest to get hold of. There are other species or forms of the above. E.cilicica Guinea Gold is a really nice one, but a lot more expensive.

Some more very nice winter bloomers, Eric. Our Christmas Roses are doing well too but they will hang their heads down. Anthea picks a few heads and floats them in a bowl facing upwards so you that you can appreciate them. These aren't this years crop but you can see what I mean.
