New features in the Transaction Analyser program
« on: March 24, 2012, 12:50:59 PM »
I had this posting almost ready to post, and lost the lot. Grrrr!
Start again - a bit briefer this time.

Calling all Bank Genie 4 and Bank Genie Pro 4 users

Ive responded to user requests for additional features to the display and reporting functions
in the program Transaction Analyser - BS408.

You can download the latest version here:
http://www.bankgenie.net/dl/BGProUpdates/BS408-dl.exe
When installed, start BS408
It should indicate Version 46 or higher

Id very much appreciate feedback on how the presentation of data and the reports look for
your data.
When posting, In the case of Bank Genie Pro users, please let me know how many sub categories
you have, maximum. Bank Genie Pro allows up to 5 levels DEEP.

Clarification:
By deep, I mean something like this:
Cat:subcat1:subcat2:subcat3:subcat4
(You can have as many categories with sub cats as you like)

Play with these controls (bottom right of screen):
1) The Reports pop-up (there are some new options)
2) The Print button - has three options LARGE TEXT, Print Preview and Print
3) The Save button - (please test the Export to Excel File and Export to txt file options)

I'd particularly like feedback from users on the LARGE TEXT reports.
Only two provided at present (one for Summarised by Category and one for Summarised by Sub Category)

er... if you dont have Bank Genie, you can read about it here:

The new report features in BS408 are really useful especially at this time, the end of the tax year.  However has anybody found a way of personalising the report titles.  For example I have been helping my elderly mother with her tax return and I would like to make report BS408RO7 of her data base reflect her name and not just show "All My Bank Groups"
Thanks

Try this.
Under the Setup tab on the menu, use the program Bank Groups-BS415, set up a Bank Group with an appropriate name e.g. "My Tax Return", and link the appropriate accounts to that Bank Group.
Then, when you use BS408, select that Bank Group and run the reports.

Does that suffice?

Also, you can use the P&L programs under the Business tab on the menu. Its specially designed for Profit & Loss Tax Returns.
That report allows better personalisation and even allows multiple P&L reports for the same or overlapping periods of a year.

The latest tweaks to BS408 are an alternative option for a simple calculation of Income & Expenditure and can give a rapid figure grouped by Category and or Sub Category.
Many thanks to Barry for testing the latest changes to BS408
