Editing a profile for a plant

I don't know if the Ideas Genie is with us here still, or in Lapland with the Xmas presents he has bought recently.

I have just entered 3 more lilies in our database Just as Genus--Lilium   and Cultivar---Lemon Pixie, like I usually do. I haven't touched the "Work with Species button".

But I now have the entry Lilium x Lemon Pixie in the database, The other two I entered also have the X in the entry, which I don't want.

I have tried for about 20 minutes to find a way of getting rid of the X to no avail in GA100S02

Any help in resolving this would be appreciated.

Don't know about the Genie but I'm home again (yesterday).
This afternoon was spent playing snowballs with James! That dreaded stuff was there to greet us when we returned home. Its so cold here, it hasn't cleared today. This evening its footie on TV.

Ive checked and find I have one instance of that x in the Lilium genus in the master database.
If you have it downloaded, open it up and look at Lilium 'Enchantment'.
Its called Lilium x 'Enchantment'.
I have only one instance.
The problem is there is a hybrid species in the Lilium genus with a blank name in the Master Database.
I don't know how that got there!

To fix it (and it will be the same for you):
1) Use GA004
2) Find plants with that rogue x.
3) edit one of those plants to get to GA100S36
4) Click the Edit Profile button and get to screen GA100S02
5) Note the x (=hybrid)
6) Click the Work with Species button and get to screen GA100S05.
The species name is blank so it sits at the top of the list. However its a hybrid species, so the name as shown as x.
7) Click the x line and edit if you'd like to see that erroneous species in detail.
In screen GA100S05, locate, click and select the species N/A
9) Back in screen GA100S02, click Change to this name
That will fix the first one

Do that for each of the occurrences of x.
When you fix the last one, you will be presented with a dialog box saying:
Species (blank)
This species is no longer in use
Do you wish to delete it from your database?
Click Yes.

To all users:
Edit and fix your downloaded Master Database using the process above, for
Lilium 'Enchantment' so it doesn't happen again.
Ive fixed the Master and will upload the latest tomorrow.

Thanks for that George, but I am afraid it didn't work.
In fact it was one of the routes I went down to get rid of the X, but I did try again as you described.

But in the last 15 minutes between paid jobs, I have found out why the X kept coming up on new entries into the Genus Lilium.

I had forgotten to say in my first post above, that we have set up on the Lilium Genus only, Divisions of the Genus.

The problem was caused because after entering the plant in the database, I had not gone into Divisions for the Lilium Genus, and allocated the plant into one of the Divisions.

I hope that makes sense.
Any way I can now get rid of those Xs

I dont see how divisions would have anything to do with that x problem Malcolm, but I'll relax anyway now that you have solved the problem.

As described in my last posting, make sure you dont have a species called x in screen GA100S05.
If its gone then you should have no recurring problems.

Def not a species called x in GA100S05 George.

Lucky I found out how to get rid of the x then it must have something to do with the divisions, as only happened with the Lilium Genus.
