JOBS TO DO
« on: March 20, 2011, 07:38:35 PM »
I am using Flower Genie to records all the plants in the various parts of my garden.

However, what would be really useful is if I could create a report of the various jobs that would need to be done
during the year.

Hi Jim - its great to see you making such an interesting and appropriate question!

Ideas Genie has a Tasks program allowing users to plan jobs and record progress, but Flower Genie does not.
Bank Genie Pro project has taken all my resources this past few months. Development is now finished and when I have the User Guide completed, that software will be released.
The new features introduced in BG Pro will be applied to Flower Genie (FG) and to Ideas Genie (IG) items. The Tasks program will be revamped.

Before doing a revamp, I would greatly appreciate feedback from members on the Tasks program.
There are three Tasks types in IG
1) General Task type - the simple method - free text, dates and notes.
2) Plant related tasks
3) Plant Care related tasks

If you are an IG user, which method(s) do you use?
What changes would you like to see?

Flower Genie
Type 1 would be suitable for Flower Genie
Type 2 could be adapted for Flower Genie in a simplified form.
Or, a clean sheet Tasks program - as simple as ever we can make it.

What would you like to record Jim? Your input would be very refreshing.

Sorry I can't give any input on your request, as I don't use the Tasks program.

Sorry to say, nor do I. I have a wife who tells me what needs doing and when to do it.

We don't use the Tasks feature here either - sorry.

In our case, having a small garden doesn't require a lot of advanced planning.

Laurie.

Hello! You wonderful people!

First, I apologize for not posting for such a long time. And I can't make promises right now into the immediate future.

Some massive plans are developing in revamping my Garden areas, both vegetable and flower. I have advised George
about these in private emails.

You can count me in on contributing to the update of the Tasks Program, George! Both the vegetables and the flowers
need control on the Tasks subjects. The up and coming makeover for my property will undoubtedly bring forward
new ideas. I'm with you! Will be happy to contribute!

- Toby

Thanks for your feedback folk.

As you can see Ive done quite a lot of work on the tasks program over the years.
There are options there for everyone.
Option 1) above is to suit the person in a hurry who simply wants to enter brief details of Tasks as a reminder, and shuffle them into priority order.
Options 2) and 3) are for those who research for information to enter in the task notes and who wish to plan the dates for the tasks and to record when a task is complete, making full use of the Tasks and Events features.
This is good for someone who plans the work to be done by a gardening contractor.

One of the changes I have planned is the methods of selecting dates for tasks.
The Calendar will be replaced with a date picker, and some of the input screens will be streamlined.

Looking forward to working with you and others Toby. Unfortunately not all users are members of the forum so its not easy to get feedback.
