My main website was so much out of date Embarrassed very  Embarrassed
http://www.ideasforgardens.com

Ive spent a few days updating it - 64 pages, one at a time Roll Eyes and it still needs a lot of work.
Will have to wait until I get back to the Veg Project and a few other things.
At least I can make minor additions and corrections to it Smiley

Ive borrowed a photo from the forum for the Photo of the week - a photo by Eric (palustris)
Hope you are OK with that Eric

Any contributions for next week and the weeks thereafter would be much appreciated folk!

Ive also added a primelink to your website Malcolm. Main index on Master border (left) which means it is clickable on every page on the site.
Let em know how the click through rate goes, please. Can you analyse that?
Ive also added that to the page Gardens to Visit
I think I owed you that for your support over the years!

I'll do one for yours tomorrow, Phil. I'm off to watch the footie now, and have a wee beer (and I wont mention the rugby yesterday  Cheesy Cheesy Grin)

Many thanks for those links George, I will keep an eye out for anyone that ventures to our home page from your link. At the moment I can only see the last 10 visitors that visit the home page and 2 of those 10 came from your site.  Grin  Most of the hits come from searches for Pictures of gardens. There is one on there now that searched for "Pictures of plants that grow in spanish gardens".

If you are going to update the Photo of the week, every week, feel free to use any pictures from our website or plant guide, no need to ask.

Matter of interest, what is the time period of your last 10 (on average)?
Its a big limitation, isn't it!
Nice to see you are attracting those hots for photos. I'm not at all surprised!

In that update, Ive activated the forms.
That is achieved using PHP script, and the information submitted is written to a mySQL database.
You can add your own hit counter using PHP. Ever tried that?
If the abuse starts again I will have to put on a captcha.

If you folk have time, please nominate a Best Plant Wink
http://www.ideasforgardens.com/bestplants/bestplants.php
Put a link to your website, of course!

Many thanks for your photo of the week offer, Malcolm.
I haven't managed to do it on a weekly basis yet  Cry but I'll do my best.

No George I wouldn't have a clue how to do it. I have only seen mention of PHP script and SQL database mentioned in my website control.

The proper website statistics from my host has stopped working, I have just reported that to support, will wait to see if they reply.

It takes a bit of figuring out Malcolm, even for a programmer.
I'm no expert, but its something I will need to do much more work on in future.
Both PHP and mySQL are very powerful, and since they are open source, they are free.
Looks like your host has them available (most of them do Smiley)

Thanks for that Eric.
You sent me some spectacular photos which didn't have names Eric, so photo of the week is the perfect shop window to let the world see those delights. e.g. you had some fantastic Hellebores. Looking forward to going through those.

Many thanks for your approval! Much appreciated, believe me.

George

You asked about visitors that come to our website from your site

The proper stats counter is now working on our websites.

So far this month the number of hits from your websites to ours are.....

22 from your GARDEN PHOTOS PAGE (pickctry)
6  from topic http://www.flowergenie.co.uk/ideas/forum/index.php/topic,1116.0.html
5  from your GARDENS TO VISIT page.

Some of the strange searches people came to our website today, from search engines.

Brugmansia Embroidery....  our site was listed 1st
Pictures of plantstalls.........our site was listed 5th

Not bad Malcolm, thanks for the figures!
I'll have to do an update to that Garden Photos page (pickctry)
Good to see the forum is generating hits.

All good information, and something you dont have access to otherwise, so especially appreciated.
